TANUKI HOUSE: UK HOMESTAYADDITIONAL INFORMATIONClimate
What to bringYou'll probably only need casual clothes for your visit. It's a good idea to bring a waterproof coat. You don't need to bring bedlinen and towels, as they will be provided. If you're interested in doing some sport, for example a fitness class at the local leisure centre, then you should bring suitable clothes and training shoes (trainers, known as "sneakers" in the US). A T-shirt and shorts or leggings should be fine. If you'd like to go walking in the countryside then bring comfortable shoes or boots, preferably proper hiking boots. They'll probably get muddy! If you want to go horse-riding then please tell me before you arrive so that I can make arrangements. You'll need strong shoes with a low heel; trainers are not suitable!
Other information and useful linksYou are strongly advised to arrange travel insurance before your trip. If you would like to spend longer travelling in the UK and/or Europe, here's someone who can help you to organise your itinerary: Flexi Travel and Study. If you have a second week to spare, and you feel comfortable in an English-only environment, you might like to consider a National Trust Working Holiday - take a look at the National Trust Volunteers' website and the Working Holidays section of my own website. It's an opportunity to spend a week doing conservation work and really getting to know the countryside and your co-workers. Here's a homestay for overseas students in Toronto, Canada: Homestay Toronto.
